Here's a great vintage look at Disneyland's "
Town Square" in the this
January 7, 1962 press photo. You can download a higher resolution scan here (
link). Good luck trying to read that sign near the firehouse, I scanned it at 4800dpi and it wasn't any better (
zoom-in link - 28mb)

The back side of these old press photos are always fun. "Sun Times" is the Chicago-Sun-Times, part of "
Field Enterprises, Inc."

Wow! What a great Picture, It almost looks like a model.
Great pic! I think the sign reads, "Fantasmic! Priority Seating Tickets Available Here - 10 Cents"
I love photos like this that you can spend a lot of time just checking out all the details!
Why is the Janitorial employee wearing a beekeeper's mask?
looks like the ad for the golden horseshoe review. the one that's currently outside of it right now. similar look, could be a possibility.
The janitorial employee has tilted his head forward, and you are looking at the top of his hat!
Walt's apartment doesnt have its patio built yet! There isn't even a door to access the space. Does anyone know when the patio and and door were added?
The sign is the "Be a Fireman - Answer the Alarm" sandwich board for the Fire Wagon attraction.
As a kid in the 50's, during those Years of Purgatory when I was too short to drive the Autopia cars, I'd get revenge on my brother (who wanted to be a fireman) by convincing him only those taller than the Be a Fireman sign could ride the Fire Wagon. Cruel, I know.
A c. 1955 photo of an earlier version on the sign was recently posted on MiceChat at http://micechat.com/forums/disneyland-resort/138604-some-old-discovered-pictures-3.html#post1056057787
