Grad Nite - 1980

Welcome to Grad Nite ’80! No tickets today, just the program. Once again, short on text, so enjoy June 10, 1980.

These last two pages are odd looking on purpose, no scanner error, just a odd sense of art direction.

Here’s a much clearer picture of the New Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is from the cover of a 1979 Disneyland Line. Want to see the whole issue? Yup, come back on Bonus Sunday, its a fun one too.

Tomorrow; Souvenir Saturday brings us MORE Grad Nite stuff, this time its audio visual fun.

The earlier color Lines usually are pretty interesting! Do you have the one for the New Fantasyland in 1983? I *may* be able to dig it out while I'm here.

Even in '79 and '80, the "Mickey Mouse Disco" thing was hanging on. Where's my white suit?

It's so interesting how these pieces of paper ephemera reflect the graphics of the era so strongly.

Unfortunately, this one and the Matterhorn issue are the only two I have. So, YES, if you can, dig up the New Fantasyland one, that would be awesome!

Say “Hi” to the mouse for me! You picked a great day for the Park, weather should be made to order, we set it up that way just for your visit…

You are so right Major, it’s a great snap shot of the time. I had a White suit too and it gets worse. One Monday's final Grad Nite post (1988) one of the photos has a guy that could be a dead ringer for me and the clothes I wore at that time, it’s truly embarrassing....

All I can say is, WOW! Thanks Tim!!! 1980 Grad nite was MY year, Although I do not see my school on the flyer, I dont think I see any LAUSD schools from the SFV on the flyer? Maybe we went a different day? It's all a blurr, as was most of 1980.....

Thanks again Tim for the Great job!!!

I couldn't believe my old disneyland date found this photo 31 years later. Spoke to him at a multi-year reunion in August then got sent this blog link last week. I'm the girl in the yellow 3 piece suit and remember the photo like it was yesterday. Thanks for giving my a broad smile with this blog :D

I remember a full days travel by train to LA followed by an All You Can Eat at a Pizza Joint "may have been Shakeys" followed by the evening at Disney Land. Short lines to rides without the typical tickets they required back then. They didn't budge on the dress code and one classmate showed up with a vest but no jacket. They lent him a Red / White striped vendors jacket so he could enter the park.
I didn't realize that different schools attend on different years. Ours was Shasta from Redding CA.

For the Graduation class of 1980...Granada Hills High School.
Remember Prom night April 12th 1980 at the Biltmore Hotel in L.A.
Good times. It was fun getting all dressed up and getting a limo.
Disneyland was a blast. We owned that park that night.
