"15 Adventures in Disneyland" Junior Ticket Book - May 1969

This ticket book has been sitting on the top of my keyboard for months, I figured its finally time to post it.  From May 1969.  This book is naturally missing its Main Gate admission ticket but there's plenty of lettered tickets left to look at.

Shown in alphabetical order, A through E:

The Haunted Mansion wont open for a few more months, but boy the park sure had a lot of amazing attractions to chose from.

The Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln ticket gets its own special color of Globe Safety Paper.

United Air Lines Advertisement - 1965

This great two page United Air Lines advertisement is from an unknown magazine although the advertisements on the reverse sides are dated 1965.  The World's Fair balloons look fun.

AAA News 1982 & Discover Hollywood 2011

Welcome to Magazine Monday.  Today's we've got two magazines for the price of one!  Neither is very good so maybe together they will make one decent post (don't count on it).

First up from February 1982 its the Auto Club News.  Nice cover photo of the Main Street station, why you'd almost think there was a nice Disneyland article within.

No great article here, just some park info and a savings program!

Interesting how in the early 80's this girl was considered "cute", by today's standards she's in need of a plastic surgeon!

Up next we violate the "its vintage if the year starts with 19" rule to bring you Discover Hollywood, Winter 2011.  This "doctors office" magazine has a pretty decent article about Walt's connection to Los Feliz.

Hey, they published the address of all of Walt's old homes, let's pack up the station-wagon and start sight seeing!

Fun map!

Disneyland Circus Fantasy - January 1988

You would think Disneyland had learned the "circus" lesson back in 1956, guest don't come to Disneyland to see a Circus! Maybe 1988 was different?

Welcome to Casa Mexicana Disneyland - 1984

Welcome to Casa Mexicana hosted by Lawry's.   This Disneyland Casa Mexicana/Lawry's brochure is from 1984 although the artwork seems late 1970's to me.

Fascinating history between Walt Disney and Richard Lawry, its all news to me.

Some recipes for anyone who still cooks.

A clue on the back tells us this brochure actually came from "Le Gourmet Shop in New Orleans Square".

TV Channels Weekly Magazine June 13-19, 1965

Welcome to Magazine Monday (a day late, see the cashier for a refund). Today we’ve got TV Channels Weekly Magazine from June 13-19, 1965. The cover features “Al Hirt, a 300-pound trumpet player from New Orleans”. Al would headline an hour-long variety show running all summer as a fill in for Jackie Gleason on CBS.

Bettelou Peterson tells us her top picks for this week’s TV shows.

This one page Disneyland article is pretty lame. The cover claimed a “Tour of Disneyland with the gang from Farmer’s Daughter”. Well, the “Tour” is three pictures, two on Main Street and one in front of the floral Mickey planter! And excuse me but where is Inger Stevens, you know, the “Farmer's Daughter”!

Let’s tune in to “Walt Disney” on Sunday night at 7:00 pm on channel 4, in COLOR.

Saturday had a nice line up too, check it out.

Ed Ames, made famous by his tomahawk throwing on the tonight show.

Speaking of the Tonight Show, here’s Johnny!

Both dresses are awesome but the pockets on the blue one are a bit clunky, go for the gold one on the right.

Bonus Sunday

Welcome to Bonus Sunday. Today's post is for Knott's Berry Farm Fans (I know there are at least two of you out there!). Undated but from somewhere around 1983 since Camp Snoopy seems to be "brand new". Knott's was certainly at its peak here, with all the old stuff still in place and plenty of cool new attractions.

Is that Delta Burke on the the front cover??

Download the entire 28 page Souvenir Album here (Knott's Album - 115MB)

This one is for Tokyo Magic!

This reminds me of Disneyland's 8 x 10 Polaroid promotion from 1980! (link).

New Ticket Books at Disneyland - October 1955

This October 1955 newspaper article recently appeared on the super cool "Disney History" blog.  Which "8 of 25" attractions would you chose?

Knott's Berry Farm fans be sure and come back on Bonus Sunday for fun Souvenir Album from the "this just in" department.

Disneyland Snapshot - June 1957

Here's a fun snapshot of Disneyland's Castle with a typical 1950's posing on one of the side bridges. This Kodacolor Print (Made only by Kodak) was processed the week of September 28, 1957, however a hand written note on the back states this photo was taken in June 1957.

This Week Magazine - April 15, 1956

Welcome to Magazine Monday (and welcome back to some new posts!).  This weeks magazine is "This Week Magazine" from April 15, 1956.  Janet Leigh graces the cover a few years before she goes Psycho!

The Disneyland article is short and just one little photo but its full of interesting information on the less than a year old park.  Bennett Cerf took a few minutes away from "Whats my Line" to write this for us.  A model of a giant chair-lift that will take you from one end of the park to the other! And what vintage Disneyland article is worth posting unless it contains a reference to Sardinian Donkey's Monkey's!

Those are some of the coolest clothes ever!

I'm hungry....

Plastic Wall Tile; I wonder how it looks 55 years later?
