Here's a a fun little item. This menu features Disneyland on the front and back covers. The date on the inside shows "
Thursday May 22nd". There was a Thursday May 22nd in
1958 but that's too early, there's a monorail photo on the back cover! The next available Thursday May 22nd was skipped (
1964) blame leap year. So this must be from
Thursday May 22, 1969.
I'm not 100% positive this is a train menu, but the Streamliner Fruit Plate is a clue.
Pickled Herring in Sour Cream, I just lost my appetite. OK, the
Lemon Sherbet might get my appetite back.

If this is from
1969, that
1958 Cadillac is looking just a bit dated.

Here's both front and back covers scanned together.

This is a Menu from the Union Pacific Railroad Streamlined "Domeliner" service to Los Angeles.
Because of the impending take over of all passenger service by AMTRAK, which would happen in 1971, the railroads did not spend a lot on extras like fancy menus.
In the 1940's and 1950's the menus would have had the UP Logos on them and would be printed by professional printing companies.
These types of stock menus were just run through a mimeograph machine as needed.
Great item though, I love the Union Pacific Bus. This bus, or one very much like it, was completely rebuilt and can be seen at many of the Union Pacific Railfan outings.
Thanks Tim, can never get enough "TRAIN STUFF!"
Well, my dad likes pickled herring, so he would probably order that. I agree that it sounds pretty disgusting.
Nice menu! Was this part of your big box of freebies?
I would take a double order of pickled herring, and be sure to breath heavily in your direction, oh ye herring haters!
It's delicious. Real Viking food.
