Big Thunder - Fall 1979

From the “this just in” department, here’s a great souvenir photo for the opening of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disneyland – Fall 1979. I was going to hold this until September, but it’s so neat I had to share it now. Those are guests right?

What's with the sad face on Jodie Foster? The photo is a Polaroid measuring 5" by 4" and in sepia tone which sadly Polaroid no longer makes (maybe thats she's sad). Polaroid does however have a NEW instant film camera (link) – I want one!

Wow, I didn't even know they had a photo op like this over by B.T. Was the attraction even open yet? Why is that man standing on the tracks behind them? And yes, that does look like Jodie Foster!

I also didn't know these existed. Very cool! That girl is pretty glum, maybe she realizes that nobody looks very good in those bonnets.

I'm looking at this pic again....15 hours later. That look on Jodie's face might just be that they told her not to smile. The tintype photographers at Knott's Berry Farm and at Old Towne Mall in Torrance would tell their subjects to look serious, because nobody really smiled in photographs way back in the day.
