News From Disneyland - 1991

It’s good to be back to blogging, that work stuff is for the birds!

Disneyland ’91 Information – The Best Ways To See Disneyland” A three page “News from Disneyland” press release. Annual Passport was $180.00, it’s actually gone up less percentage-wise than the one day pass.

The cover of the 1991 Disneyland Souvenir Guide celebrating with the Disney Afternoon Live gang.

A fun map from 1991. Wow, I never would have thought I'd be longing for the Disneyland of 1991, but I am…. HEY wait, what’s in the America Sings building, huh, nothing?

More about the Disney Afternoon Live promotional tie-in with Disneyland. I remember this promotion at the park, it seemed kind of gimmicky at the time, it still does.

Come back on Bonus Sunday for the entire guide plus a Disney Afternoon Live Bonus!

I'm with you....I never thought I would miss the DL of 1991, but just look at what has been removed since then....A LOT!

And in 1991, they were "Imagineering a Brand New Attraction" for us in the America Sings building. Of course the sign stating that had already been hanging on the exterior of the building for 3 years and it took them a total of 10 years to actually put something in that building, but just look what we got. Wasn't it worth the wait?

Did the guided tour includ admission? Seems like a deal if so, only $10 more than the daily admission

Now you've alerted the folks at Disney that the passports are underpriced! They love to tell you how you are getting a "good value" no matter how high the prices are.

MP-The price is based on supply and demand. It would be nice if Disneyland admission were only $30, but the gates would get shut everyday! Also, tourists who pay full boat subsidize the AP's. As the park has increasingly depended on AP's for in-park revenue it has also cut gate revenue. In 1991 there were probably 10% of the passholders.

I think most people are happy to pay more money if it is reinvested in new rides and maintenance.

John-Sorry, admission was purchased separately!

My above comment should read that there were 10% of the passholders that there are today.

Disney Afternoon Live! was also a test run for Meet Mickey. Meet Baloo was located in trailers at the Toontown underpass and helped to work the kinks out of the system.

If you don't admit you liked Disney Afternoon Live! I will take all of your broccoli!

Hi Tokyomagic; "Imagineering a Brand New Attraction" indeed… Ionventions is so lame; it epitomizes what’s wrong with the New Tomorrowland ’98!

Disneymagic, thanks!

John and Wescot2000 I figured the tour had to be in addition to your admission price, but it does actually state “and a Disneyland Passport good for unlimited use of all adventures and attractions after the tour is over”. BUT, it doesn’t seem possible that the tour AND passport were only $10 more than just the passport. Things that make you go “Hmmm”.

Major, hopefully the mouse doesn’t actually ready the stuff I type here… I did some math on my AP which I got in late December; I’ve gone 13 times, at the old prices that’s $858 for gate admission and $143 for parking for a total of $1,001.00. The AP cost $389 I believe, so I would say I am way ahead of the game!

Westcot2000; Interesting about the test run for Meet Mickey. And while I thought the Disney Afternoon Live tie-in at DL was gimmicky, I DID watch the program when it was on Channel 9 here in Los Angeles and I wasn’t even a kid!
