TV Radio Mirror - April 1956
Welcome to Magazine Monday. Today we've got another (yes another) exciting issue of "TV Radio Mirror" from April 1956. In case you missed my previous TV Radio Mirror - December 1954 post you can view it here (link).
Not to be confused with "TV-Radio Life - March 1955" (link) or Radio and Television News - August 1956 (link) or June 1958 (link) this issue has the stunning (or stunned?) Loretta Young on its cover. She's also looking stunning on the cover of the TV Guide from the first week of January 1955 (link).
The index section for those who need to know.
There's a nice (yet colorless) four page Disneyland article featuring Spring Byington and Bobby Diamond. I've never heard of either one of them.
Google-Wiki tells me Spring was a veteran stage and movie actress and "In 1952, she joined CBS Radio to become the lead role of the widowed Lily Ruskin in the sitcom December Bride. In 1954, Desilu Productions produced a pilot of the show for a television sitcom, also starring Byington. The pilot was successful and the new hit sitcom aired in its first two seasons immediately following I Love Lucy. December Bride broadcast 111 episodes through 1959." (link). And Bobby Diamond was featured with Peter Graves in "Fury" (link) I've never heard of that either!
She's a dead ringer for Ms. Garrett!
What's new from Coast to Coast.
Radio Guide?
Now for some vintage advertisements. I don't know about you but I always get my shampoo in a can...
Suddenly...
This is clearly a magazine slanted towards women.
This Lucky Strike advertisement is weird. Let's set a side the fact that the American Tobacco Company is selling cancer sticks. Is this a couple or a Dad and his daughter? Is she playing golf too or just cleaning his balls (Golf balls!).
Mr. Golfer-Smoker is going to need come Colgate Dental Cream for those yellow teeth!
Prell and Head & Shoulder's were the two top selling shampoo's until the mid 1970's.
Family time...

Undated Skyway Slides
A few more "undated" Disneyland slides today. First two are the wonderful Skyway!
Blue bucket - check, Blue PeopleMover car - check, Plenty of Signage - check!
So this is not the Skyway, but its from the same lot, any luck on a date for these??

Disneyland Passport 1977
Time for an "Exclusive" Passport to Disneyland. Magic Kingdom Club members could get "Unlimited use of all Disneyland Adventures & Attractions (Except shooting galleries)" for just $7.50 (adult admission, adjusted for inflation that's $28.42 in today's dollars). Good thru May 30, 1977, these Passports were for the off-season only, but if you hold on to it you can use it for the opening of Space Mountain on May 27th 1977!
And now a few slides from 1975 or 1976. The "Pearly Band" in Fantasyland... What's that signage behind them to the left "..M. King Stefan"???
America on Parade had some weird stuff but this float and its characters came out really nice.
Great float, but the Big Heads give me nightmares...

More Disneyland In Kodachrome
Three more undated Kodachrome Disneyland slides from my recent mixed bag slide acquisition. First up is a super shot of the Keel Boat at Fowler's Harbor. Oh man, there's the REAL Fort in the background...
Looks like the cast members are doing most of the work here. The guy behind the front cast member is smoking!
Where is everyone? Maybe they're inside.

Disneyland In Kodachrome
I recently acquired a mixed set of Disneyland slides that included a few old Kodachrome's and like a kid I'm posting the best one first!
That sign is great! There is no date marking on these red bordered slides. I think it looks pretty close to 1955.
Today's second slide is a very bright and open Frontierland entrance. No date here either, but it looks warm in this photo, the folks in the Fireman photo above look dressed for winter.
I'll post more from this set soon.

A couple of pairs of E-Tickets...
There's a HUGE pile of ticket books and tickets on my desk that I'm attempting to sort through and this couple of pairs of E-Ticket's shouted "post me".
First up, top; I don't have an exact date handy, but I'd place it as 1968 or 1969 as Pirates of the Caribbean is shown but no Haunted Mansion yet. The bottom one is from April 1973 with one of the last appearances of the Pack Mules thru Nature's Wonderland. Wow the Globe safety paper is so vivid it looks like it was printed yesterday.
The next pair are the smaller size tickets. These are from 1977 or early 1978. When Space Mountain opened in May 1977 (as an E-Ticket of course) it was listed only as "Space Mountain" on the ticket. By 1978 the words "Roller coaster type attraction" were added next to Space Mountain (link).

4-Day Holiday Weekend at Disneyland - February 12-15, 1971
Are you ready for an Exciting 4-Day Holiday at Disneyland February 12, 13, 14 & 15 1971? Well if you are ready there's some important information you should read before you reach the Main Gate Ticket Booth.
Don't forget where you parked, it's really embarrassing, trust me. "After your visit" go see these other places.
I wonder if anyone did a study on how much time you had between getting this flyer at the Parking Lot Booth and decision time at the Main Gate Ticket Booth?
A 350-Piece Massed Band and a 500-Voice Massed Choir, that's A LOT of people!
50¢ was so worth it.
From my February 2010 post here's a ticket to 1970's "Valentine Party at Disneyland".

Undated Disneyland Photos
Place your own date on this "undated" set of four black and white Disneyland Photos.
None of these photos are helping me place a date...
19??
Cool glass lamps on the tables, that would never happen today. But when was this?

Daily Variety 2005 - Disneyland: A national treasure turns 50
Welcome to Magazine Monday. Today we've got a "Special Commemorative Issue" of Daily Variety Magazine, April 29, 2005. The Cover story and the entire special issue are dedicated to Disneyland: A national treasure turns 50.
Most of the relevant pages (and a few advertisements) are scanned in this post, let me know if I missed something you'd like to read.
I know I've seen that map somewhere before.
There are some nice rare photographs in this special issue.
You replaced my Country Bear Jamboree with this??
According to the ticket article on the right, Disneyland stopped selling ticket books on June 16, 1982. And guess what, we have PROOF --- Be sure and check out my post from last year "The Last Disneyland Ticket Book - June 15, 1982" (link).
That Steve Martin 50th film was, well, not great.
I remember that pool on Main Street - It could only happen at Disneyland...
yawn...
Great House of the Future photograph.
Fun Hidden Delights.
