Here's a fun fact sheet detailing the employment requirements to work at Disneyland for the 1962 Summer Season. As you read through this ask yourself "how many of today's youth meet or exceed these requirements"? Oh and if you've got "deformities or blemishes", you're OUT!

The Sub photo that got away - 1968?
Last month I posted a group of undated black & white Disneyland photos (link). Thanks to blog reader "K. Martinez" we've place the date at around 1968. Well, one of the photos got missed so here it is today, the Sub that got away!
Here's a nice Junior Admission "E" ticket from 1967/68, No Haunted Mansion yet...

Disneyland Front of the Line Pass - 1996
Here's a fun Disneyland pass, no waiting in line! This sweet ticket got you and your party to the front of the line for the attraction of your choice. It does not guarantee immediate boarding, but your "next".
If your thinking of making a copy of the pass shown above, forget it, its from 1996 and they use different ones. In fact, in 2010 they used one like the one below from my Club 33 visit (link):

Walt Disney's Magazine - April 1959
Welcome to Magazine Monday. Today's post takes us way back to April 1959 with another fantastic issue of Walt Disney's Magazine.
Naturally Walt has an introduction to his own magazine.
Disneyland gets a nice two page article, even if two of these attractions would be gone in 1960.
Lucky for us the Trolley is still a regular at Disneyland. I wonder what ever became of the Stage Coach itself?
"Oregon or Bust" - the Conestoga Wagons must have been a wild ride.
While not focused on Disneyland, the park does get mentioned in this article on "Silhouettes".
My mom still has Disneyland Silhouettes of me and my brother from 1968 or 1969.
Our cover girl Roberta Shore: a success story. (well, if you look up her career it fizzed out after a few years on the Virginian).
The Shaggy Dog seems to have had a more impressionable career than Roberta..
Laugh time! And contest time, hurry, all entries must be postmarked no later than May 31, 1959.
The artwork in these 1950's Disney magazines is simply outstanding. It really is timeless.

Another contest! This is more of a sales contest. Top prize is a paid trip for two to Disneyland, watching movie making at the Disney studio and a stay at the Disneyland Hotel! All you have to do is sell the most subscriptions, of anybody, in the whole United States! Hurry, contest ends June 30, 1959!
Un-credited cool artwork

Disneyland Snapshots - 1967/68
Today we've got a couple of those fun square snapshots of Disneyland. First up from October 1967 there's some people-less PeopleMover's gliding over the Submarine Lagoon. I like the early version of the PeopleMovers without the extra safety bars.
From July 1968 here's the Natures Wonderland little train, neat little structure in the background.

Walt Disney Word - Treasure Island Ticket
It's time for a Walt Disney World post. This "Special Adventure" ticket was good for Admission and transportation to Treasure Island, "Bay Lake's Tropical Island Paradise". This ticket is undated but is on ticket book stock and probably was part of a ticket book, so I would guess its from the late 70's.
Treasure Island (later named "Discover Island") intrigues me, it's been closed for fourteen years yet it sits there just like "River Country" right next door, closed and abandoned. You wont see Treasure Island in any Disney Florida promotional (propaganda) materials that's for certain!
From Wiki: "The island opened as Treasure Island on April 8, 1974, as a place to observe wildlife, and was later renamed Discovery Island when it was recognized as a zoological park. It closed to the public on April 8, 1999, but continued to operate until July 9, 1999, at which point all of its animals had been relocated to new homes at Disney's Animal Kingdom (whose Safari Village hub area was renamed Discovery Island) and other zoos. After its closing,
Disney considered teaming up with the makers of the Myst video game to create a cutting-edge interactive experience to be called "Myst Island". Guests to the island would explore unusual locations and unravel a mystery about the island's previous inhabitants. However, development of this attraction never got beyond the concept stage."

Street Rodder - June 1975
Welcome to Magazine Monday (a day late but not a dollar short...). Set your time machine to the dead center of the 1970's for the June 1975 issue of "Street Rodder" Magazine.
If you like the Main Street Vehicles at Disneyland as much as I do you'll love this in-depth 5 page article. Bob Gurr is interviewed and shown below.
Too bad the Carnation Truck is not longer at the park. That little red car is still there!
There are some fantastic photos in this article and lots of behind the scenes stuff.
Even the America Sings car gets honorable mention (made from "Wood and Glass").
Great custom cab from the cover.
Nice color!
This answers many questions...
Chic indeed.
Can't you hear the announcer voice as you read this?
