The Disney World - December 1965 – January 1966

Happy New Year Everyone! What better way to celebrate New Year’s day than to check out a vintage “The Disney World” magazine. This is the December 1965 – January 1966 edition featuring the Tournament of Roses Parade with Walt Disney as its Grand Marshall. See a super post about the 1966 Tournament of Roses Parade at Outside the Berm (link) and see Meet the Worlds amazing 7 part 1966 Tournament of Roses Parade series from last year (link)

The inside cover tells about Walt’s role in the parade.

The “Biggest Surprise of the Decade” one can only image how the Florida project would have turned out if Walt had survived thru its construction.

From the “Could have been” department, Mineral King is looking promising in this article, too bad it didn’t turn out that way.

The Tencennial Celebration continues “indefinitely”…

Interesting “Letters from Burbank”… Disney sure was proud of that plane, does the Mouse Corp still own and fly it?

Come back this weekend for the entire issue.

Super post! Thanks for the link to my 1966 Rose Parade posts. I just posted a "Part 7" to that series today. As I said in my post....better late than never!

Happy New Year to you!

Happy New Year, Tim!

I have found LOTS of slides of the Rose Parade, but never any from 1966. Rats!

I'm sure that nobody imagined that Walt would only be around for another year.

Thanks for the link, Tim, but 'Meet The World' did a far nicer job with the subject than we did!

Have a great 2010!
