Magazine Monday - Mystery Edition

Welcome to a special Mystery Edition of Magazine Monday. Today’s mystery is “What magazine is this article from?” A hand written note on the second page of this article tells us it’s from August 1971.

Its pretty much a thorough “report” on the park with a note that 1970 was the first year the park exceeded 10 million visitors (something it would not repeat again until 1977link).

Do you think these guys knew they’d be moving in right next door in a couple of decades?

Vice President Richard Nixon visited Disneyland; I’ve never heard that before… Wow, now that’s an entrance to Tomorrowland!

Can we get that Tomorrowland entrance back, please? I see Mr. Spaceman in that photo with his miniskirt clad girlfriend (?) standing next to him. Bring them back too!

I don't know the source of this magazine article, but the author died earlier this month. Here is a brief news item from Variety's Web site on November 10th:

Longtime 'Photoplay' editor dies
Anderson became a Hollywood fixture
By Alexa Harrison

Nancy Anderson, longtime West Coast editor of mag Photoplay, died Nov. 4 in Bell Buckle, Tenn., of natural causes. She was 92.
After working at a number of newspapers around the South, she moved to Los Angeles in the 1950s with her family.

She accepted an editor position with Photoplay Magazine and became known around Hollywood, developing friendships with the likes of John Wayne, Walt Disney and Elvis Presley, for whom she used to bake. After retiring from Photoplay, she wrote a weekly entertainment column for Copley News Service.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a sister.

Donations may be made to Henry's Fund at henrygranju.org.

The last page refers to "More Fashion Knits for Dolls in the September issue". Are these pages too small for something like McCall's or another magazine with patterns for sewing, knitting, and craft projects?

It's interesting how this is just before the media deluge for WDW's Magic Kingdom.
