The United States Steel Unisphere makes for great safety paper.
Even though I wasn’t able to visit the fair in person (yet) it’s obvious that Walt Disney was a huge part of the its success. This Progressland brochure is in amazing “like new” condition which just adds to the awesomeness of the artwork, wow – I want to step right into that illustration on the cover.
One of the major highlights of my 2008 Walt Disney World trip was seeing the Carousel of Progress (link).
All-Electric Living. I rented an apartment in the 80’s that had that symbol on the door “Total Electric Award” – Ceiling radiant heating, electric stoves and electric waters heaters cost a small fortune to run!

Great stuff! I'd really love to know who did that illustration for the cover of the Progressland brochure - it doesn't look like a typical Disney piece of art (not even Herb Ryman). I have one or two other pieces from the fair that show the same artwork, maybe a signature will be visible.

ReplyDeleteAs should be apparent from my moniker, I'm a sucker for anything Progressland-related. That's a beautiful brochure. The location sounds very 1960s: "On the Avenue of Commerce beside the Pool of Industry"!
