This fun and colorful mini-poster lets Magic Kingdom Club members know the Country Bear Jamboree opens March 23rd (1972). Wikipedia has the Bears opening March 4th, is the right? I like how Teddi Barra is swinging outside the border of the poster. According to the little code a the bottom left (2/72 - 65m) they printed 65-thousand of these in February 1972, wow, I wonder how many are left?
I know of at least 25, as I had that many at one time and sold them at Disney shows.
ReplyDeleteI still think they should bring this show back to DL or put it in DCA! They could even make the bears part of a restaurant show...sort of a DL version of Chuck E. Cheese's. Disney's missing the boat on this one, I tell ya!
ReplyDelete@ TokyoMagic you are so correct. Either back as an attraction or as a themed resturant a la "The Rain Forest Cafe". I had not thought of that but I agree. They are missing the boat here.
ReplyDeleteHow's this:
ReplyDelete* Wikipedia says March 4 (without citing anything, so I would discount it)
* The poster (printed who knows how far in advance) says March 23
* Disney A-Z says March 24
* The March 24, 1972 Disneyland Line says, "Well, them silly bears are here and they will give their first official performance tomorrow (March 25) as "Bear Country" makes its Disneyland debut. Throughout this past week, however, the bears have been giving "sneak" performances-when possible-to Park employees, Buena Vista construction people, Disneyland industry sales employees, and to members of the press."
I'd be most inclined to trust the Disneyland Line, given its purpose and chronological proximity to the event.
They could have just made the pirate bears and the attraction would have stayed.
ReplyDeleteHow true, Major! Making them Princess Bears or Jedi Bears probably would have saved them too.
