It’s time to celebrate Disneyland’s New Sights & Bright Lights – August 19 thru 25 1973. This gate flyer is very much like yesterdays 1974 flyer. In fact, it doesn’t actually say “1973” anywhere. Thank's "Jim" for the correct year (I thought it was 1979!). The New Mouseketeers have some seriously nerdy outfits - but I like them.
The Grass Root, totally radical! During the summer, Disneyland is still open till 1am!!!!!!!!!!!!
More entertainment than you can shake a stick at (but please don't).
Here’s an insert that provides TIPS on viewing the Electrical Parade. 8:50 PM seems like an odd time to start a parade?
Center right; now I get it, the 8:50 PM parade starts at 9:00 PM… The drawings on this page are actually not very good, Small World and the Alice ride vehicle look like something I would draw.
Hi Tim, this flyer is from 1973, when the Walt Disney Company celebrated its 50th anniversary (1923-1973) with its coast-to-coast "50 Happy Years" celebration. From Wikipedia: "Founded on October 16, 1923 by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929." I spent an inordinate number of days at Disneyland during the Summer of '73 and many hours watching the Mouseketeer show featured on the flyer. Cheers! --Jim
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with the Mousketeer's outfits? I dress like that all the time. I also like red or yellow jump suits and I really really like suspenders.
ReplyDeleteWaaay cool!
ReplyDeleteI have this same guide and insert from a childhood visit in '73! Another indicator that it's from 1973 is, that was the same year DL temporarily replaced Lincoln with the Walt Disney Story (before they merged the two.)
ReplyDeleteI've wondered who those kid are on the front. They are too young to be The Kids of the Kingdom, but there wasn't a "New Mickey Mouse Club" until 1977. Strange.
Thanks JIM!!!!!! Tell us about those Mousekeeters, TM and I are confused...
ReplyDeleteMajor; I always pictured you in a Gold Lame jumpsuit!
Hi Connie!!!
TM: The back of the flyer calls it the "New Mickey Mouse Club Jamboree and New Mousekeeters" but yeah, these aren't the 1977 "new: version, where's Blair!!!!
