Disneyland's "Town Square" - January 7, 1962
Here's a great vintage look at Disneyland's "Town Square" in the this January 7, 1962 press photo. You can download a higher resolution scan here (link). Good luck trying to read that sign near the firehouse, I scanned it at 4800dpi and it wasn't any better (zoom-in link - 28mb)

ReplyDeleteThe sign is the "Be a Fireman - Answer the Alarm" sandwich board for the Fire Wagon attraction.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid in the 50's, during those Years of Purgatory when I was too short to drive the Autopia cars, I'd get revenge on my brother (who wanted to be a fireman) by convincing him only those taller than the Be a Fireman sign could ride the Fire Wagon. Cruel, I know.
