Basically the way it worked was that our party began at 7, but we were allowed in the park starting at 5. The park officially closed at 6, and announcements were made as such. Most people in the park at the time made their way to the exit, but there were always the stragglers who realized that the park wasn't really closing and decided to stick around.

But the park was still far less crowded than any other time I've ever been there. Being able to walk on Space Mountain was a real treat. The biggest line was for Star Tours (which had just opened a few months earlier), and even that line didn't make it out of the front doors.

I miss those parties.Randynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157943953608089697.post-20300089433120315392008-02-21T16:00:00.000-08:002008-02-21T16:00:00.000-08:00Great background information Progressland. Were the normal park hours different than those on the VIP ticket and how did they handle that? “It’s 7pm, you regular guests, it’s time to leave!”? THANKS!Vintage Disneyland Ticketshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14790755040005517146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157943953608089697.post-2061671436033487282008-02-21T08:52:00.000-08:002008-02-21T08:52:00.000-08:00On February 21, 1982, Disneyland was open from 9 A...On February 21, 1982, Disneyland was open from 9 AM - 7 PM. Note the copyright date of 1980. This suggests an ongoing promotion. The VIP party was probably a mix-in.

An August 30, 1986 Los Angeles Times photo caption provides further details: "Sales associates and staff members of Jon Douglas Co., with family and friends, pause during a recent VIP party at Disneyland. The firm bought more than 100 tickets for the event."

I think it was probably a program companies could participate in. If they couldn't afford to buy out the whole Park for a private party, they could take part in a party with others, and then get three hours without "regular" Park guests.Jason Schultzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13193194008194991219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5157943953608089697.post-21099275633180278552008-02-21T07:46:00.000-08:002008-02-21T07:46:00.000-08:00Have been a little under the weather, I can always...Have been a little under the weather, I can always come to your blog for some uplifting and very cool information.
