Disneyland - Labor Day 1984

Let’s take a look at Disneyland on Labor Day Weekend 1984. This group of snap shots is mildly interesting as the Rivers of America were drained and these include a few interior pictures of America Sings which had only four years left.

Neat Disneyland Hotel Parking ticket, you don't see those to often.

Two Wonderful Ways to Enjoy Disneyland - February 1964

Time for yet another “Two Wonderful Ways to Enjoy Disneyland" parking lot brochure. You can see a few of my previous “Two Wonderful Ways” posts here (link) or see a boat load of them over at Stuff From the Park here (link).

This February 1964 version has an unusual map of the parking lot, an aerial photo! I’m thinking that photo is older than 1964?

The Deluxe 15 Ticket Book for an adult was still a great deal for just $4.95

Those pesky winter hours….

Looking ahead to Bonus Sunday here’s the cover to the Fall 1964 edition of Vacationland.

A great article on how Disneyland was also intended for “upper age bracket, over fifty citizens” with Main Street being an authentic re-creation of a town they grew up in. It’s odd that Main Street no longer has that effect on anyone or hardly anyone. Seems reason enough to “re-create” some vintage Disneyland so the next generation of “over fifty citizens” can have a similar experience - give us some of our balloons back!

I don’t know much about Arthur Godfrey, but he seemed like a nice man and that rack of Dolly Madison cakes sure looks yummy!

Rodding and Re-Styling Magazine - March 1960

Welcome to Magazine Monday. Today's Disneyland related magazine is from March 1960, "Rodding and Re-Styling" is a TV Guide size magazine for the hot rod crowd.

The First Annual Car Club Day was held at Disneyland's Holidayland. This article is all about custom rods so there really isn't anything about Disneyland and very little about the mysterious Holidayland, but there are some cool cars daddio!

There are no splashy advertisements so how about a fun article on how this guy and his "Renewed Stude".

Disneyland Line - September 2, 1976 - Special End-of-Summer Issue

Was September 2nd 1976 really thirty-five years ago? Here's a Speical End-of-Summer Issue of the Disneyland line. It's a decent issue with a nice article on how they did the fireworks.

For some much needed color lets look ahead to Bonus Sunday. Staying in 1976 this well preserved Spring 1976 issue has an amazing cover and is an above average issue with some fine articles. Come back on Sunday for the entire issue.

Olympic Team Salute and the State Fair ’88

From August 29 thru September 2, 1988 there sure was a lot going on at Disneyland with its Olympic Team Salute and the State Fair ’88 promotions. For more Olympic fun, check out my older post on the 1984 Olympics and Disneyland (link).

Even the diagram of the parking lot can evoke fond memories. They’re pushing those Disney Dollars “you may want to take them home as a special souvenir of your visit” – I’d love to see the accounting on exactly how many “special souvenir” dollars never get cashed… Queen Mary and Spruce Goose sighting.

An Olympic Village was setup at Videopolis so you can tell the Olympic athletes to “go for it” (how 80's can you get?). Every guest gets a free Team Pin, whoopee!

Plenty of Live Entertainment was on tap for the events. Two different parades each day? “Pigmania” pig races at Big Thunder Ranch! Even Circle-Vision was showing two different movies each day. And who can forget a couple of Ferris Wheels in Disneyland, one at the Hub!

Nice promotion for The Main Street Electrical Parade, be sure and see it before it “glows away”.

I’ve got four of these exact brochures and none of them have any autographs, darn.

What’s happening over at the Disneyland Hotel? The Dancing Waters Show starts at 9 & 10pm, I wonder if they still have… oh wait, don’t get me started.

Since I can tell you need more information about State Fair ’88 here’s a fact sheet that should answer all your burning questions.

Human Cannonball? Baby Animal Beauty Contest? Maybe this was more like the Hooterville County Fair!

Midway Games at a Disney Theme park, how lame would that be, thank goodness they’ll never try that again, right?
