July 17, 1990. Disneyland’s 35th Anniversary. There is a bunch of stuff in this post so I’ll get right to it.

A Complementary Passport. An interesting color choice, it reeks of the early 1990’s.






35th Anniversary Dream machine unused ticket, too bad you had to be present that day to win, maybe someday I’ll reveal the prize that never was.





A variation of the 35th Anniversary Dream machine ticket, this is a winner of Disney Videos!






A special party for the Automobile Club in June, This really shows the art departments using their new computer to do the layouts. It looks like it came from Print Master Deluxe.






Here’s an interesting item that is WAY too big to scan. It’s a pop-up thing of Disneyland. I took a few photos of it, there are not great, but you get the idea.






The inside is pretty detailed in parts, but some parts are missing altogether. I dig the Rockets!

This last set of scans is from a binder that looks kind of like a press kit, but I don’t think it is. I scanned each sections divider as they have the cool graphics. Maybe in the future I’ll post the text pages.

July 17, 1985. Disneyland had a neat logo for its 30th Anniversary. From the looks of the ticket, they went for a 24 hour party this time; I suppose 30 hours would be just too long.





The official invitation. Sister Sledge and all kinds of food for the 12:01am to 8:00am party goers. You “regular” people don’t get to enter the park until after the special meals are served.

A couple of Gift-Giver tickets. The first one was guest number 246,524,591. WOW that’s a lot of people! The second ticket is a blank, and obviously not a winner.






Here’s a fun wrapper, for Hot Dogs maybe? It does not appear to have been used. It’s got some neat artwork on it for a food wrapper.

July 17, 1980. Disneyland hits it first big anniversary. From what I have read, this is the first time the park really started to consider itself a “Classic” and fully understand its place in the hearts and minds of people all over the world.

Disneyland had a grand 25 Hour Party to celebrate 25 years! After 25 hours at Disneyland I would be Goofy as can be, in fact, I would be sleeping in the Opera House at about hour 20.

Yummy, all kinds of good food was prepared for those lucky 25 hour party goers.





This gets weird. There are two seemingly identical gate flyers for the event. Both have the same front and back as shown here.

I am guessing the people that bought the special 25 hour party tickets got the “Special Birthday Entertainment”, however both of the fronts are the same and talk about the 25 hour party. It’s making my brain hurt, Jason, please clear this up for us…

Vacationland U.S.A. 1970 - Part 1

Today’s post is real treat from the National Geographic Society. Vacationland U.S.A. was published in 1970 and has 424 dazzling pages of pure America. If you’ve never seen this book you should find yourself a copy. In 1970 this book retailed for $9.95 (plus postage).





Here’s the book without its dust cover, those symbols make me wish it was 1970 again and we could just start the last 41 years over, anyone else?





This eight page tribute to Disneyland has some stunning photos. Interestingly, a post of mine back from April 2008 featuring the August 1963 issue of National Geographic Magazine is consistently the most viewed post I’ve done; it’s had 187 hits just today! Check it out here if you haven’t seen it, it’s a super look at Disneyland circa 1963 (link).
