New York World's Fair 1964-1965 Ticket

Once again it’s time to visit the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair, be sure and visit my recent NYWF posts here (Special Ticket & Discount Book).

This ticket sure evokes the feeling of the fair, great fonts and symbols. The copyright sure has a lot of years listed! Void if detached. Detached from what?

The United States Steel Unisphere makes for great safety paper.

Even though I wasn’t able to visit the fair in person (yet) it’s obvious that Walt Disney was a huge part of the its success. This Progressland brochure is in amazing “like new” condition which just adds to the awesomeness of the artwork, wow – I want to step right into that illustration on the cover.

One of the major highlights of my 2008 Walt Disney World trip was seeing the Carousel of Progress (link).

All-Electric Living. I rented an apartment in the 80’s that had that symbol on the door “Total Electric Award” – Ceiling radiant heating, electric stoves and electric waters heaters cost a small fortune to run!

Here are a few pages from a great little booklet Ford gave out at the fair.

Is this great or what? Check out the Black 64 Lincoln, looks like it’s got 22 inch rims!

Knott's Butterfield Stage Line Tickets

Since we’ve seen a lot of the Knott’s Berry Farm train lately it seems only fair to show off the other transportation ride that’s still at the farm too.

These Butterfield Stage Line tickets are undated but most likely from the 1950’s. Neat stagecoach graphics, classic talk about the possibility of the driver getting killed and your ticket being free if you bring the stage to the next station, of course that’s if you didn’t shoot driver.

While it’s not my favorite Globe Ticket safety paper, the Dillingham Ticket Co. had some pretty nice safety paper too. I think its great that both of these ticket companies are still in business.

From Gorilla’s Don’t Blog, this 1967 view of the Butterfield Stagecoach sure does look inviting.

TV Radio Mirror Magazine - December 1954

Welcome to Magazine Monday. Today’s featured magazine from December 1954 is certainly one of the oldest Disneyland related articles posted here. In fact, this magazine is so old its focus is Radio and TV hence the name “TV Radio Mirror

The four page Disneyland article is mainly about the TV show, which of course was mainly about the new park. I want the model that Kirk Douglas is examining!

Here’s each page scanned separately, enjoy this vintage look at Disneyland, I did!

So that’s what Peggy Lee used to look like.

Steve Allen had all the scoops.

Wow, a guide for network Radio stations, this look alien to me.

Everything a man could want 1954 style.

“Father Knows Best” think it will make it?

Just finish this limerick and you could win a TV; Two children who lived in Cathy became uncontrollably gay; the cause of their glee was a show on TV, _________________ you fill in the last line, seriously.

Hair spray with no Lacquer? I’m not interested unless it contains lacquer or epoxy.

Only one comment here: “Hurt me baby, make me write bad checks”.

Neat art work.

The short haired lady look so familiar?

Ghost Town & Calico Railway’s Grand Excursion Tickets

Time for some vintage Knott’s Berry Farm Tickets. But first here’s the cover to the 1953 booklet that tells the history of Denver and Rio Grande narrow-gauge railway and how it ties into the trains at Knott’s. Come back on Bonus Sunday for the entire booklet (59 pages) there’s some great early photos of the trains at Knott’s and lots of neat facts and drawings.

The Ghost Town and Calico Railway’s Grand Excursion tickets have always been pretty cool. They really go for authenticity; I think the different shaped punch marks are a nice touch. You can see the tickets got smaller over the years, the later version isn’t even on safety paper but at least it’s still only 50¢! The larger ticket is HUGE, these are scanned on an uncropped 18" by 12" piece of construction paper.

The Child tickets did see price increase somewhere along the way. No gun play in the lounge cars!

The back cover to the booklet, see the inside on Bonus Sunday.
