Splash for Cash at Disneyland - 1989

This special passport was part of the "Splash for Cash" promotion for the grand opening of Splash Mountain at Disneyland. Somewhere on this blog I posted the second version of this ticket that included an additional day due to the delay of the grand opening. I'd link that old post, but I can't find it, I need to do some better indexing of these posts!

This offer open only to McDonald's employees. "would you like fries with that?"

Planting the Seed for Anaheim’s Future

Here’s an interesting item. Undated but most like from the mid 1990’s this packet of California poppy seeds is “Planting the Seed for Anaheim’s Future”. This packet looks as if it was actually used, it’s weathered and all the seeds are gone! I’m not familiar with that castle & globe logo, was that supposed to be for Wescot?

This is probably before the Disney's California Adventure idea was born, yet the instructions appear to describe DCA perfectly; thinly cover with dirt, sunny location preferred and little care or water needed.

This badge definitely demonstrates what went wrong wit the second park concept, its all about MONEY!!!!!

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1969

Taking yet another look at a vintage Magic kingdom Club card, this one is from 1969. If you missed the previous club card posts, check them out here (link). Mrs. Joy Barnes was the lucky holder of this membership card from the Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, California.

I don’t have a 1969 Disney News, but here’s the next best thing, the fall 1969 Vacationland. This issue is one of the more rare and costly issues (I wonder why?) I got this one about ten years ago for $1.99!!!!

“There’s always room for one more”

Instead of posting a teaser article, how about just the titles of the articles? Come back on Bonus Sunday for the entire issue.

She's 50 years old and looking great!

"Stub Style" Disneyland D Ticket

Taking another look at Disneyland’s “Stub Style” tickets, today we’ve got a vintage “D” Ticket. This ticket appears to have been a sample, was punched void and has staple holes.

The “D” stub ticket above was probably in one of Disneyland’s magical “ticket binders” which were used at one time to determine the authenticity and value of the old tickets. This page from the “ticket binder” shows the trade in value of the “stub style” tickets. I’ll have a post in the near future that explains (in nauseating detail) how the ticket redemption program worked.

Dixieland at Disneyland - September 28, 1968

This post is a week late so pretend today is September 28th. 42 years ago Disneyland celebrated its annual Dixieland at Disneyland.

On September 28, 1968 and Louis Armstrong and his Dukes of Dixieland once again lead the entertainment lineup, plus Many more! How cool is that drawing of the guys playing instruments. Tickets available at Wallichs Music City, Desmond’s Stores and Bank of America (with BankAmericard).

One extra dollar gets you five more tickets, isn’t the choice obvious?

CLOSED Monday – Tuesday. See lots more Dixieland flyers over at "Stuff from the Park" (link).

Index Card - 1964

Today's post comes from the "backup post" section, this blogger actually had to work this weekend so you get a silly, small post today....

This little index card from March 4, 1964 appears to be in response to a guest question about the times and dates for the fireworks. It's pretty amazing that Disneyland replied on blank index cards! From what I hear now-a-days Disney rarely responds to questions, but when they do I'm thinking they no longer use blank index cards?
