Coil Box Courier - August 1958

Welcome to Magazine Monday (on Tuesday). Technically this isn't a magazine, it's a newsletter, but close enough. From August 1958 it's the Coil Box Courier, a newsletter for antique automobile buffs (The Horseless Carriage Club of Southern California).

Break out the sewing machine and you to have your very own wardrobe for Disneyland!

Go back to 1958 and buy some of these "oldies", store them for 50 years and your rich!

Disneyland Car Pass's

At one time free parking tickets to Disneyland only meant a savings of small change. Today a free parking ticket is worth the price of a good meal. This first ticket is from 1978 and was mailed to a guest from Disneyland's public relations department. You'll see the letter and parade tickets around Christmas time.

I don't have a date on this one, the "X" in the serial number usually means this is a courtesy ticket. If so, the ticket above really should have an "X" also, one of the many ticket mysteries.

Disneyland Today - July 14-20, 1990

It's Disneyland Today – 2o years ago today! July 14 -20, 1990. What better way to start the 90's than to have huge balloon characters roaming down Main Street.

Don't miss the Dick Tracy Musical Review at Videopolis, I sure did. I never understood the pastel-colored Dick Tracy of 1990, too weird. Lot's of ticket choices, the annual pass is a bargain at $165 (with parking).

There is so much (too much?) going on the main page here you almost forget there are rides too! Don't forget, the Pigskin Classic begins August 26th.

Only Disneyland can throw a party this big a GEO, huh, where the Cadillac's they gave away in 1985!

The old parking lot maps make me smile.

Remembering Deborah - July 8, 1974

It was 36 year ago today that Deborah Gail Stone lost her life while working on America Sings. This seems like such a senseless death, didn't anyone anticipate this could happen? Thanks Jim for sending us this article and making sure we remember Deborah. Please note this article incorrectly states the date Deborah died as July 9, 1974, it occured on July 8th, 1974.

America Sings Information Packet - Summer 1978

Back in 1978 a school teacher in Holtville California was planning a play based on Disneyland’s America Sings. Apparently she wrote Disneyland looking for the lyrics, amazingly they didn’t have them? But they were more than happy to provide an awesome information package.

The artwork on the cover is also on a guide book (link) and a few other items. However, this is the nicest printed version I’ve seen.

Each of the sections is separated by a tab that I didn't scan. These’s some great information in here, reading thru it sure makes me miss this attraction. In Act IV Betty Taylor sings “Bill Bailey”!
