New Magic Kingdom Club Cards - 1968

If you're a Magic Kingdom Club member (in 1968) there's a crop of brand new membership cards waiting for YOU!  They're practically growing on trees.  Also don't miss Disneyland's Fabulous Holiday Extravaganza (insert announcer voice here) "Walt Disney's Fantasy on Parade".

At the bottom of the club card poster is a coming soon notice for "Operation Mouse".  In case your not familiar with "Operation Mouse", below is a re-post showing the Operation in operation.

***********  Re-post **************

This flyer promoting Operation Mouse was from at a post back in January 2009 (link).

Right after I posted the flyer in 2009 a blog reader contacted me and we made an exchange. I got myself a real Operation Mouse Money 50¢ coupon thing (link). As an added bonus it’s on that wonderful “castle and star” paper.

Notice the expiration date in 1969; these were literally “January Only”.

Another great blog reader recently sent me some great scans of more Operation Mouse Money, thank you Mr. Disney Dollar collector! This copy from Winter 68-69 Disney News came with the coupons.

Wow, a couple interesting things to note here. First, these are two different colors than my sample above? And neither one matches the colors of the samples in my flyer at the top? What gives?

Notice the expiration date; 1968? My flyer is dated 12/68 clearly intended for January 1969.

These “voids” have very low serial numbers; maybe these were tests done earlier in 1968 so it made sense to print 1968? Or maybe they did this promotion in 1968 as well as 1969? Jason, what’s the database got say on “Operation Mouse”?

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1972

Taking yet another look at a Magic Kingdom Club membership card today we’ve got a card from 1972. This unused card (imagine all the unfulfilled happy memories) was for the Delco Sparks Travelers U.A.W. Local 662, Indiana.

You can use your BankAmericard to purchase a subscription to the Disney News Magazine.

I don’t have a 1972 Disney News so this Fall 1973 Disney News will have to do. What a fantastic cover!

Great three page article on Disneyland’s Candy Palace.

Another great three page article, this one is all about Disney’s’ Topiary’s at both parks.

The Swan Boats looked so cool; they even traveled to Adventureland and circled The Swiss Family Treehouse!

Come back on Bonus Sunday for the entire issue.

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1966 #2

Taking another look inside the Magic Kingdom Club shoe-box we find this neato 1966 Magic Kingdom Club Membership card for an employee of the Anaheim Post Office, that's keeping it local!

See my previous 1966 Magic Kingdom Club membership card post here (link).

(This magazine was posted before back in May 2008) Here's a super Disney News from the Summer of 1966, lots of new things coming to Disneyland. A few great pics of Walt and lots of fun stuff.

Naturally, this is my favorite page from the 1966 Disney News.

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1963

Taking yet another look at Disneyland’s Magic Kingdom Club today we’ve got a membership card from 1963. This club card was issued to Eileen Wakefield (what an awesome signature!) and apparently she worked for Trans-World Airlines. I guess TWA still got Magic Kingdom Club membership status even though they had just recently dropped sponsorship of the Rocket to the Moon Ride.

The usual “let them eat cake” disclaimers on the back. Interestingly, some Club memberships expire at the end of the year and some (like this one) expire right before summer starts.

How about a vintage Vacationland Magazine to go with the 1963 Magic Kingdom Club membership card? This cover photo on the Winter-Spring 1963 Vacationland is so familiar that I could swear I’ve posted this issue before, but I don’t think I have, at least I can’t find it anywhere on this blog.

They thought this show was already an old timer, I think it’s got a few more years to go!

Next year being the 50th anniversary of The Swiss Family Tree House attraction wouldn’t it be amazing if they evicted Tarzan (do kids even know who that guy is?) and moved the Robinsons’ back in??? Let Kevin Kidney coordinate the restoration and it will be perfect! The article mentions a Swiss Flag at the attraction, I know someone who "acquired" one of those flags directly from the tree house, maybe they would donate it back if gets restored.

Great wall map, the cast members are a bit creepy however.

Viewmaster’s and Disneyland were really hitting their stride by 1963. That’s a neat castle drawing, a bit of a Monet influence?

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1969

Taking yet another look at a vintage Magic kingdom Club card, this one is from 1969. If you missed the previous club card posts, check them out here (link). Mrs. Joy Barnes was the lucky holder of this membership card from the Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, California.

I don’t have a 1969 Disney News, but here’s the next best thing, the fall 1969 Vacationland. This issue is one of the more rare and costly issues (I wonder why?) I got this one about ten years ago for $1.99!!!!

“There’s always room for one more”

Instead of posting a teaser article, how about just the titles of the articles? Come back on Bonus Sunday for the entire issue.

She's 50 years old and looking great!

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1979

Still looking thru the Magic Kingdom Club vault today's we've got an "blank" membership card for 1979. This was for members of the Teamsters Local 278 (Hoffa wants this card back).

Here's the awesome cover to the Fall 1979 issue of the Disney News - Come back tomorrow for what's inside and some more "Black Hole" goodies.

Magic Kingdom Club Membership Card - 1970

Taking yet another look at the Magic Kingdom Club, this time we’ve got a membership card from 1970. This chapter was for the U.S. Naval Air Station at Los Alamitos, I like the Stars on each side.

From the last page of the Spring 1970 edition of Disney News, there’s the same membership card there on the left with all kinds of details on how the club functions. Someone from 1970 was not impressed with the discount, having written “It will take $23.50 just to go to (Disneyland)” Their math tells me the family had six people; Two adults, one junior and three children.

The cover photo to the Spring 1970 edition of Disney News was reused in a guide book for Spring 1972 which I have yet to post.

Disneyland’s new Ambassador looks like a young Barbara Walters (that would be back in 1886).

Feed the Guests 500,000 pounds of hamburger!!!! It’s always fun when they “add up the annual numbers” at Disneyland. Did they really used to have waitress service at the Tomorrowland Terrace? 100,000 gallons of ice cream, sounds like my annual intake.

From the “How the others see us department” here’s a great article that is a repost from Westways Magazine 1969 (Hey, I don’t have that one!). This article takes a look at how your perspective changes when you visit Disneyland all by yourself, something that I can completely relate to.

This is an excellent “Disneyland” focused issue of the Disney News; some issues get thin on the park, not this one. A fun look at the real Tom Sawyers Island and the simple fun it proved for millions of young boys and girls.

A post from a couple weeks ago (link) featured this orphaned Disneyland Calendar and advertisement on the back. Well, as it happens it’s the back page to this issue of the Disney News! They have been separated in my collection for years, now they are finally back together.

And "just cause I like it" , the return address section from the mail-in subscription renewal form.
